Tequila and smoke, what a great idea!! Add a little Red Currant Citrus for brightness, and Hickory syrup to compliment the smoke with some sweetness. All of these flavors blend well together. We chose to use an Anejo Tequila, which is aged longer, and offers notes of smoke, peppery, vanilla, and is just really smooth. Then to top with a Cilantro sprig for garnishing which offers a nice fresh hint to your nose when you take a sip.
- 1.5 oz. Anejo Tequila (1800 Tequila Anejo)
- .75 ml. Red Currant Citrus
- 1 tsp. Hickory Syrup (Shaggy Gnome Syrup Co.)
- Cocktail Smoker (we used Applewood chips)
- Cilantro sprig (optional)
Pour Tequila in an empty bottle with a lid. Using your cocktail smoker, smoke the bottle with the tequila. Close the lid and shake the tequila with the smoke. Pour smoked tequila, Red Currant Citrus and hickory syrup in a rocks glass and stir well. Add an ice ball and cilantro to garnish and enjoy!
We’ve found that shaking a liquor with the smoke infuses it better and adds more to the overall cocktail.
